Tech 1 : Digital Storytelling

I think digital story telling has huge potential to be very powerful in my classroom, especially for digital photography. I do a lot of demonstrations in Photoshop. Last semester, I created videos using screencast-o-matic. I posted some on my website and others on the server in the digital lab. When they functioned properly, students benefited because they could watch and re-watch whenever they needed assistance with their computer tasks. On the other hand, the program was super slow and the generated files were always very large, unmanageable and usually un-postable, hence the server sharing. I would like to discover a better method for creating video demonstrations and tutorials that is more user friendly while creating smaller files. Does anyone use a similar program or know of anything that takes video screen shots?

Street Portraits

With Clay Enos as inspiration, camera in hand and a white sweep taped to the side of a building, I approached interesting passerby. Those equally intrigued posed for a quick street portrait. Subjects were encouraged to keep headphones in, bags raised and sunglasses on. These are the best results.
